Grand Island Central Catholic

Lincoln- Make it three straight for the Grand Island Central Catholic boys basketball team. Three straight appearances in the C2 title game.

Wednesday afternoon the Crusaders defeated the Amherst Broncos 58-47 in a rematch of this season's Sub District final played back on February 24th.

The Crusaders grabbed the early lead and never trailed in Wednesday’s semi final rematch, despite a couple runs from Amherst in the second and fourth quarter.

“It wasn’t an if, it was a when, with Amherst, because they can light the scoreboard up in hurry especially from beyond the arc” Said Assistant Coach Rob Micek “ They’ve got some exceptionally skilled basketball players and I thought when they cut it to five there in the fourth quarter Tino did an excellent job calling the timeout, regrouping the guys and saying hey look, you’ve been here before, keep your composure and do what you guys do best.”

GICC was led in scoring by Isaac Herbek who finished with a game high 21 points, Macus Lowry added 19 points.

The Crusaders survive and advance and now will meet Humphrey/Lindsay Holy Family in the C2 title game set for 4pm on Friday at Pinnacle Bank Arena.

AM 1430 KRGI/105.5 FM will broadcast beginning with the Pump and Pantry Pregame show at 3:45
